November 26, 2011 @ 4:49:14 PM - Tweaks, Maps and Photos
The photo album manager has been given a major facelift. Adding and removing albums is smoother now. Image attributes can be changed inline without a page load. Lots of work has been done to ensure that manipulating photos and albums is easy and fast. Give the new photo system a try and give me any feedback you have!
The arcade and game store search pages have been updated to include an inline map showing store locations. This has been coupled with new customized tool tips on all maps to allow easy location of any store or arcade in the CartJunki.es database. The only thing needed is to find and add as many stores and arcades as possible!
Minor tweaks to several areas of the site have been applied to make things more consistent. News posts have been updated to link to the poster's profile. The collection over time graph has been tweaked to look better and only show up if a member has enough games. The theme has been tweaked to make several search pages less confusing. A force disable JavaScript setting has been added allowing users on outdated browsers to enjoy the site easier. All of these small tweaks should help the site feel more integrated and professional.
On a different topic, MAGFest is coming up soon (January 5-8 in DC). If you haven't heard of it, now is the time to check it out. Several CartJunki.es members will be attending the fun!
As always, happy gaming from CartJunki.es!
November 24, 2011 @ 11:24:42 AM - Collection Updates
First off, to all of our members in the United States, Happy Thanksgiving!
Several tweaks and two new features have been added to collections on Cartjunki.es. You can now track the number of systems you have in boxes, with manuals and sealed. This will also show up on your collection screen much like the similar attributes to games. The edit system and edit game pages have the ability to let you quickly edit attributes and quantities without typing much like the list pages themselves. You also can now split grouped games into separate entities right on the list page.
A new attribute has been added to games allowing you to tag a game as recommended. Recommended games will be presented on a new recommended games list on your profile. They will also appear on your collection as normal. Your friends will have the ability to add recommended games to their wish list much like the collection page.
As always, happy gaming from Cartjunki.es!
November 22, 2011 @ 10:00:35 PM - Bug Fixes and IRC Channel
A few bug fixes have been applied to profiles and collections with respect to custom URLs. Thread layouts have been slightly tweaked. You can now quickly change the region of games on your games list without going to the edit game screen.
We also have an IRC channel now! Join us at irc.rizon.net #cartjunki.es and chat or idle.
Happy gaming!
November 1, 2011 @ 4:44:57 PM - Small Profile Updates
Two additional features were rolled out today for profile management. First, wish lists can detect whether a game you have added already exists in your collection. If you add a game to your wish list that you already own, a small exclamation mark will appear next to the game on your wish list. Second, the add games screen now allows for auto-complete. You can still pick games from a list as before, but you now can start typing and Cartjunki.es will attempt to fill in the rest of the game for you!
A few tweaks to custom URL management have also been rolled out and it should be far less buggy at this point.
Happy gaming!
October 5, 2011 @ 4:07:41 PM - Profile and Minecraft Tweaks, General Fixes
Cartjunki.es ha been quiet for the last few months, but that doesn't mean we aren't working behind the scenes to improve the site. Since the last update tweaks to profiles and Minecraft integration have been applied and several bugs have been fixed.
Profiles now allow for custom URLs! If you enable custom URLs in your settings, your profile, collection, wish list and personal market page will all be accessible using your nickname instead of your UID. When viewing a friend's profile, you can now compare your collection against his or her collection. The comparison page will show which systems you have in common with your friend as well as how many games each of you has for each system. Also, when adding games to your game collection you can now choose them from a list of games. The list of games is aggregated from everyone on the site so if you do not see a game on the list that means nobody has it in their collection yet.
The Minecraft plug-in has been updated to allow for multi-line MOTD messages. It is also tested working on the latest Minecraft and we have been playing a ton lately! The Minecraft server page now automatically refreshes the user list and positions as well as the server time. The server time is now more stable and will not disappear randomly when loading the page. The server page itself is also much faster to load and should no longer get Error 500 messages sometimes.
Sitewide, there have been several enhancements and bug fixes. Sitewide collection statistics are now available on the Cartjunki.es home page. You can also choose how the system drop down sorts in your Settings. The available sorting options are by developer, by generation and by name. The ToS has been updated with a paragraph on the SPAM policy at Cartjunki.es and a last updated time has been added so you can be sure nothing has changed on you unexpectedly. Minor bugs across the site have been fixed as well.
Thanks to the members who suggested some of the cool features added since the last news post! Keep your suggestions coming and thank you for using Cartjunki.es!
There are 2891 games and 433 systems in 87 member collections. The most popular system is the Nintendo Entertainment System with 404 total games sitewide. The approximate worth of all games and systems on CartJunkies is $44,583.
